Country Crosses Paths With Rock Legend

CMT to premiere Joe Walsh and Friends special on Saturday.

In a new twist on its country-meets-rock format, the latest installment of CMT Crossroads stars longtime Eagles guitarist and solo hitmaker Joe Walsh with a host of handpicked duet partners. Guests including Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Luke Bryan and youthful newcomer Hunter Hayes will duet with Joe on choice selections from his classic-rock catalog. Songs from Joe’s just-released Analog Man, his first album in two decades, will also be featured.

“Nothing beats country music with a little rock ’n’ roll sprinkled on top,” Joe said in a release about the upcoming show, which premieres Saturday, June 23, at 11 p.m. ET. Joe may have understated the case, though, as the song list will more likely offer a main course of rock energy and electric guitar wizardry with a tinge of country.

The episode will be given additional airings over the summer, a CMT spokesperson confirmed to CW, though these are as yet unscheduled.
