COUNTRY & BROADWAY KICK OFF CMA WEEK

Country stars and Broadway singers took the same stage Monday night, Oct. 30, in Nashville for “Broadway Meets Country,” officially kicking off CMA Awards week.

“Broadway Meets Country,” held at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, paired the stars of country music and the Broadway stage, performing songs from each other’s genre. Barbara Mandrell hosted the event, which also featured Trisha Yearwood, Nashville Star champ Chris Young and Lorrie Morgan, along with theater performers Ben Vereen, Brian Stokes Mitchell and more. The evening’s highlights included Trisha’s soaring rendition of “Somewhere” from the musical West Side Story. “Broadway Meets Country” marks the first of several star-studded events in Nashville during the week, culminating in the CMA Awards, Monday night, Nov. 6.
