Comedian Amy Poehler Takes Over Carrie Underwood Emmy Awards Interview

“Carrie, can we talk religion, politics and do some swear words as well?” Amy asks her on the Emmys red carpet.

Carrie Underwood did an awesome job singing The Beatles hit “Yesterday” during a ’60s tribute on the Emmy Awards show Sunday night (Sept. 22).

But her red carpet interview with comedian Amy Poehler, star of TV show Parks and Recreation, provided another highlight of the night.

Amy pushed her way into Ryan Seacrest’s interview for E!, and Amy dutifully asked about Carrie’s dress before turning to Carrie’s upcoming performance of a live TV version of The Sound of Music.

“It’s three hours of live TV. I got to memorize lines,” Carrie said. “I don’t know how you guys do it!”

“We barely do,” Amy said. “We barely do. We have those things called cue cards.”

Then, Amy’s hardest-hitting question:

“Carrie, can we talk religion, politics and do some swear words as well? Let’s get into it.”

“Please,” Carrie said, but she didn’t.

“Best interview ever,” Ryan said.
