Colgate Showdown Winner Announced

Karla Davis of North Carolina was named the winner of the 28th Annual Colgate Country Showdown in the National Finals held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Jan. 14.

The other four finalists were Kendall Phillips, Casey Lee Smith, Terry Lee Spencer and the duo Whisky Row. Karla performed two original songs and received the grand prize check of $100,000 and the title, "Best New Act in Country Music." LeAnn Rimes hosted the show, which also paid tribute to Garth Brooks, who formerly competed for the Colgate Country Showdown crown. The show was taped and will air this spring as a one-hour special on television networks nationwide. Fans may check local listings and countryshowdown.com for broadcast dates and times in your area.
