Cole Swindell had a couple of good friends on hand when he celebrated the success of his No. 1 single “Chillin’ It” at a party atop the BMI building rooftop in Nashville, Tuesday (May 27).

Cole’s friends Luke Bryan, who also spoke on Cole’s behalf during the party, and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line showed up to support their buddy to share his shining moment in the sun.

Cole and his “Chillin’ It” co-writer Shane Minor were honored with plaques from Cole’s record label and Country Radio Broadcasters.

At one point during the ceremony, Luke took the stage to offer congratulations to Cole. The two go back a few years, as Cole once sold merchandise for Luke’s shows. Cole is now opening for Luke on his 2014 tour and has three songs on Luke’s Crash My Party album. “Chillin It” is Cole’s first No. 1 as a songwriter and artist.

“I’m so proud of him,” Luke told the crowd. Luke praised Cole’s work ethic and talked about his desire to move to Nashville from his home state of Georgia to chase country stardom. “It’s what Nashville is all about—following your dreams,” Luke said. “Congratulations, Cole!”

Cole addressed the crowd and offered thanks to his mom, Carol, who was in attendance, and the support team around him.

“Since I moved to town, I always wondered if I’d ever get to stand up here and thank everybody,” said the young star. “It’s crazy. [Now] here I am on tour with Luke Bryan. It’s unbelievable. It means the world to me.”
