CMT Will Broadcast Buffett at the Beach

The 90-minute event, CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends: Live From The Gulf Coast, originally scheduled for Thursday, July 1, has now been rescheduled to air live and commercial-free on Sunday, July 11, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.

As previously reported, the concert, which was meant to buoy the spirits of Gulf residents and spark tourism in the area affected by the massive oil disaster off the coast of Louisiana, has been rescheduled due to increased surf that threatened to undermine the stage. The high surf is a result of Hurricane Alex in the Gulf.

Performances will be simulcast live on Radio Margaritaville, available on Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio, and streamed live on cmt.com.

Meanwhile, Jimmy put on an impromptu free show at his sister Lucy's restaurant, Lulu’s, in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Wednesday night (June 30), according to the Associated Press.

He sang crowd favorites including "Fins," "The Pascagoula Run" and "Volcano" during a more than two-hour show that had hundreds of fans swaying to the music and holding up bottles of beer.

Word spread quickly through Facebook and the grapevine that the singer known for his love of the beach life was going to be on stage in Gulf Shores, the AP reports.

A huge cheer went up during "Margaritaville" when Jimmy replaced the standard lyrics and sang, I think it's all BP’s fault!.
