Overthink, overanalyze, brood, stew . . . most creative types are used to putting more thought than necessary into their art. But when Chuck Wicks recorded the demo for his new single, “Us Again,” he only sang it once.

“Something that we all do as writers and performers is that if you live with something long enough,” he begins, “you start to question, ‘Well, should I have done that different? Should I have gone here on this note and there on that note?' Nothing is more real or more fresh on a lyric or melody than when you’re writing it, because that is the moment. So, it was cool to capture the feelings and the moment right on the record, because that's when it happened.”

“Us Again” by Chuck “One Pass” Wicks is available on iTunes today! For more on Chuck, his new single and his upcoming album, pick up the Feb. 17 issue of Country Weekly, on newsstands Feb. 10.
