Chris Young on “Aw Naw”: Been There, Done That, Wrote the Song

“That’s one of the reasons this song kinda came out,” Chris says.

Chris Young sings about staying out way too late partying with his buddies in his latest hit, “Aw Naw.”

And that’s because, well, Chris has stayed out way too late partying with his buddies.

“’Aw Naw’ is definitely something I can relate to,” he tells ABC News Radio, laughing.

“I’ve been in that situation before. So have my co-writers. That’s one of the reasons why this song kinda came out,” he said.

“We’ve all hung out before and been like, ’Aw, we’re gonna go home.’ And then we all end up celebrating ’cause we wrote a good song or done something, acted like we really changed the world that day, or something.”

Well, he and his fellow songwriters definitely changed the country world a little the day they wrote that song.

“It’s been so much fun, man, to see people’s reaction to this song. Like, getting onstage playing it is just like instant party when the song’s on,” he said.

Chris is set to sing “Aw Naw” live Wednesday (Sept. 18) on Good Morning America. Chris’ new album, A.M., is in stores today (Sept. 17)
