CHICKS STILL CAUSING A STIR

The Dixie Chicks give a controversial interview in the new issue of Time magazine, which hits newsstands today, May 22.

The group's Natalie Maines, who had apologized for her anti-President Bush comments in 2003, asserts that she's now taking it back. "I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever," Natalie says. Bandmate Emily Robison recalls that she knew immediately how Natalie's comments would be taken. "It wasn't that I didn't agree with her 100 percent. It was just, 'Oh, this is going to stir something up,'" Emily says. The Dixie Chicks' new CD, Taking the Long Way, featuring the single "Not Ready to Make Nice," hits stores Tuesday, May 23. Tonight, the trio performs on the Late Show With David Letterman on CBS.
