CHICKS HONORED AS "FLAMEWORTHY"

The Dixie Chicks will be honored by CMT in June at the upcoming CMT Flameworthy Video Music Awards.

The award, the CMT Flameworthy Video Visionary Award, is the first of its kind and the Chicks are scheduled to accept it during the live telecast of the show on June 12 at 9 p.m. ET.

On the subject of their videos, bandmember Martie Maguire says that they are a very important part of the music-making process. "We know that they are instrumental in bringing our music to the fans and we take making them very seriously," she says. "There aren't any videos we've done that we haven't been completely involved in the creative process."

Natalie Maines says she credits CMT for helping the girls get their career started.

"It helped us a lot in the beginning as far as face, name and song recognition," she says. "Now it's not so much that we have to make a video, it's like we get to make one."
