CHELY WRIGHT'S BENEFIT A BONA FIDE HIT

Last night Chely Wright hosted her annual benefit concert for her Reading, Writing and Rhythm Foundation at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. The night was packed with star performances by Martina McBride, Blake Shelton, Josh Turner, SHeDAISY, Jeff Bates, Big & Rich, Rachel Proctor, Jenny Gill, and surprise guest, Ronnie Milsap. But just as exciting was the ongoing auction throughout the night. Some of the winning bids included $3000 for a $1000 shopping spree with Chely at a local clothing boutique; $19,000 for a 2004 Harley Davidson Fatboy autographed by several artists; and a couple who won the chance to go backstage to meet all of the artists on the show actually won the package with a bid of $2100, but generously wrote a check to the foundation for $5000. Even the stars bid - Martina McBride and her husband John paid $2500 for a Tammy Wynette stage dress, which Chely modeled. Martina and John won the dress by bidding over the phone through Martina's road manager, as they were driving to the benefit.
