Chely Wright Ties Knot in Same-Sex Marriage

Bride and bride wear matching white sleeveless gowns

Chely Wright, country music's first openly gay singer, tied the knot with gay-rights activist Lauren Blitzer on Saturday in Connecticut, a state that allows same-sex marriages, Chely confirmed via Twitter.

Chely, 40, and Lauren, 30, met just a couple of weeks after Chely came out as a lesbian last year.

The two wore matching sleeveless white wedding gowns, which Chely showed off in this picture.

Lauren is Jewish, so there were both a rabbi and Christian preacher officiating, according to several media outlets.

Chely tweeted afterward: “We had a great time!!”
