Chely Wright has fired her fan club president over reports of unethical behavior regarding her current hit single, "The Bumper of My S.U.V." Chely learned through a Nashville newspaper reporter that Chuck Walter, her longtime fan club president, encouraged other club members to send fictitious e-mails to radio stations, requesting that they play the song, which supports American troops overseas. Some members were even asked to falsely identify themselves as military personnel when they contacted the stations. "I am shocked, saddened and deeply upset by this unethical behavior," Chely responded. "I have asked for the immediate resignation of my fan club president and additionally, I have shut down all activities by the 17-person volunteer street team." Chely added, "Mr. Walter was an unpaid volunteer who acted without my knowledge or direction." The single, which was not released on a major record label, sits at No. 44 on the Billboard chart.
