Cassadee Pope Revisits “The Voice”

She’ll debut her new single

It hasn't even been a year since pretty and talented Cassadee Pope took home the trophy on Season 3 of NBC's The Voice. But she's gearing up for a repeat performance on the hit show to debut her first country single, “Wasting All These Tears.”

Cassadee, who was a member of Blake Shelton’s Team Blake on the show, told Country Weekly she's excited to be going back. “It was such a fun experience and it wasn’t just because of Blake and the coaches and just playing on that stage every night,” she says. “It was the people behind the scenes that I loved, like the producers, the PAs, hair and makeup, wardrobe, camera crew—everybody was so nice and funny and fun. They made it even more fun than it was already. I’m excited to go back and see everybody and just catch up because they jumped right into the next season so I haven’t been able to hang out with them or see them very much.”

The excitement is also building around playing her new song on the show, although she isn't that nervous. "I have to do it justice, make a good first impression," Cassadee says. "But I’m using The Voice band and they’re incredible, so I know they’re going to kill it. And all I have to do is do my job and go up there and sing and hopefully get people turned on to it and get them to go to iTunes."

“Wasting All These Tears,” which is already being played on country radio, will be available on iTunes on Tuesday, with a full-length album expected later this year.

Sure, Cassadee sounds cool about her return to The Voice, but she'll admit to a touch of nerves.

“I obviously want people to love what I’m going to do, but I’m not in the back of my mind thinking, ‘Well, I’m actually competing with people,’” she says. “I’m just going and showing people what I’ve been up to the past few months, whereas before if I messed up, I could go home. But it’s going to be scary. I definitely have to do the best I can. It’s live television and you can’t fix that."

Catch Cassadee on The Voice, Tuesday, June 4.
