CASH FAMILY BURNING MAD

Merle Kilgore, who co-wrote the Johnny Cash classic "Ring Of Fire" with June Carter Cash, thought it would be a hoot to use the song in a TV commercial for a hemorrhoid-relief cream. However, Johnny's family isn't laughing. "We would never allow the song to be demeaned like that," says Johnny's daughter, singer/songwriter Rosanne Cash. "[Merle] started talking about this moronic tie-in without talking to any of us. The song is about the transformative power of love, and that's what it has always meant to me, and that's what it will always mean to the Cash children." Merle told The Tennessean, "I certainly didn't want to upset the Cash family because I love them. I just thought it was kind of funny."
