Carrie Underwood Says Husband Avoids Public Displays of Affection
Getting her husband to kiss her in public is "a really big deal," says Carrie.
Carrie Underwood claims that conservative husband Mike Fisher isn't big on public displays of affection, and that even getting him to kiss his superstar wife in public can be a challenge.
"He's definitely a conservative guy. To get him to kiss me in public is a really big deal—but he knew what he was marrying," Carrie tells Australian radio show Kyle and Jackie O. "But he knows that even if the skirt's a little short, I would never do anything. That's my motto--I would never do anything that my kids would be embarrassed about when they grow up."
Not to worry. Though PDA may not be her hubby's preference, Carrie says he definitely has a romantic streak. For her 29th birthday, Mike had a private dinner set up, followed later by a surprise party. "I had told him I wanted something romantic, which he did the night before. He set up dinner for us—somebody came into our house and cooked dinner and when we came back it was just beautiful—so I checked that off my list, but the next night he had a giant party for me with all of our friends. It was really nice." Carrie later tweeted a photo of herself from the '80s-themed birthday bash, complete with a sideways ponytail and an "I Love the '80s" button.
Birthday celebrations behind her, Carrie's now hard at work gearing up for a fall tour and four shows in Australia, including a gig at the Sydney Opera House on July 2. "We took a tour of [the Sydney Opera House] when we were in Sydney last year [during a promotional tour]," Carrie says. "I feel like I already know my way around."
