Carrie Underwood Dishes on Oscar de la Renta and Her Favorite Nashville Hangouts
“I try to make sure I get a little ‘me time’ on a daily basis,” says the singer.
Carrie Underwood is set to perform during the Nordstrom Symphony Fashion Show this year at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Tuesday, Feb. 28, the same day that her single "Good Girl" is released to radio. Carrie recently dished to Nashville's Nfocus magazine about the upcoming show, her favorite Nashville haunts, her eating habits and how she fits a little much-needed "me time" into her busy schedule.
When she performs at the upcoming Nordstrom Symphony Fashion Show, Carrie will wear a gown designed by famed designer Oscar de la Renta, who will showcase his pre-Fall 2012 collection during the show. "I have actually never been lucky enough to wear anything by Oscar de la Renta," Carrie says, "but there is certainly a reason he is so well respected in the fashion community. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be dressed by him. I can’t wait to see what we come up with!"
When she's not on the road touring, Carrie admits she's a homebody. "I really don’t get out too much, to be honest. I like to shop in the Green Hills area. Dinners out are few and far between although I’m constantly grabbing IveyCake [cupcakes] for Mike [Carrie's hockey-player husband, Mike Fisher]. It seems that lately, I’ve spent the majority of my time in the recording studio and at the Bridgestone Arena watching Mike and the Nashville Predators play. And when I’m wanting to get pretty, I head to Parlour 3 [Brentwood, Tenn., beauty salon owned by Carrie's hairstylist, Melissa Schleicher]!"
Many women look for different ways to be healthy while on the go, and this superstar is no different. "I eat almonds, apples, dried fruit (with no added sugar . . . don’t understand why they add sugar to fruit), raw fruit and nut bars, maybe a few squares of super dark chocolate, and veggies and hummus. I am such a label reader and always take my food with me everywhere," says Carrie. "Eating out is a definite diet sabotage and most of the time, it’s hard for me to find quick food to eat, so I always make my own food ahead of time and take it with me. That way, I know exactly what’s in it and I can still stay healthy and satisfied when I’m working."
Though she's gearing up for the release of her next single, "Good Girl," from her upcoming fourth album, Carrie still tries to incorporate some downtime into her schedule. "My life can get pretty crazy at times. I try to make sure I get a little 'me time' on a daily basis. Whether it’s that hour in the morning when I get to work out, getting a pedicure, or just getting to spend some alone time with my husband, every day should have a time that’s just for me."
