Carrie Tells Idol Runner-Up She’s a Winner

Sixteen-year-old Lauren Alaina may not have won American Idol, but she got a boost of confidence from the best-selling Idol winner of all time.
Carrie Underwood, who did a duet with Lauren (“Before He Cheats”) on the Idol finale, told Lauren just before the big announcement to keep her head up either way.
“Right before we went out there, she said, ‘No matter what, Lauren, you’re a winner and you’re going to be amazing in the country field,’” Lauren told Access Hollywood.
“That was really uplifting,” Lauren said.
