Carrie’s Hubby Mike Fisher Promotes Book, Clothing Deal
Set to release Defender of Faith, models for Under Armour clothing line.
Mike Fisher—known in the country world as Carrie Underwood’s husband—is more widely known as much for his strong Christian faith as he is for his hockey skills.
The 31-year-old Nashville Predators player is set to release a new book, Defender of Faith, in September. The book chronicles his faith and his hockey career, and Mike hopes that his story will help encourage teens and kids. “I’ve always enjoyed working with kids, whether it be hockey school, things like that, and I just thought it would kind of be neat to start there with a book for kids. I think kids need role models,” Mike says in a beliefnet.com interview. “I needed role models when I was growing up and I ran into a lot of different people and that’s what helped me.”
He also says his faith has helped him throughout his career. “You don’t hide the things that you love and who you are. You should be proud of those things and that’s why I’ve kind of always been a little bit more outspoken. . . . And as far as being a leader, I’ve always kind of been a bit of a quiet leader for the most part and tend to just lead by work ethic and example and those types of things and just be a good teammate and try to love everyone the same way. I fail at times for sure. But I’ve got the Lord showing me things I need to be doing better and get through injuries, through adversity, all those things. It’s about your attitude and how you deal with those things that other people see.”
The hockey star is also an admitted hunting fan, and a year ago he struck a business deal with sports and hunting brand Under Armour Performance Clothing. Mike posted several photos from a recent photo shoot on his Twitter account. The pics include images of Mike in the company's camoflauge hunting gear, exercising in the brand's athletic clothing and even a shot of Mike getting primped for the cameras.
“They forced me to do makeup!!” Mike said via Twitter. “Shoot is going well.”
