Bus Songs: Toby and Eric Write on the Road

Is there a co-written hit in their future?

Now here’s a song we’d like to hear.

As headliner Toby Keith and his red-hot opening act Eric Church wind their way across the country on Toby’s current tour, the pair has been setting aside time for the occasional writing session.

“We wrote a couple songs together, and they’re great songs,” Eric enthusiastically tells CountryWeekly.com. “We’ve been threatening to do it for a while and it’s a neat thing to just pop up on his bus and write. It’s been fun to get to know him a bit.”

While Eric didn’t divulge what the compositions sound like, he did say he and Toby were planning to pick up their guitars and put pen to paper again.

So will the Chief ever release his collaboration with the Big Dog Daddy? “I’d love to,” Eric says with a laugh, before quickly deferring to his boss on the road. “Or Toby will!”

For Eric, he’d simply be happy with such a high-profile co-write credit. “Yeah, that’s right,” he says. “That’d be OK with me.”
