Brantley Gilbert Bleeds for His Art

Brantley Gilbert definitely knows how to sell a performance, from his headlining Hell on Wheels Tour to the video for his new single, "More Than Miles." In the Shane Drake-directed clip, the Acadmy of Country Music Best New Artist nominee plays a guy who leaves his woman only to discover that he can't make it without her. After he calls to hear her voice, he flies into a rage, smashing a mirror with a chair and a picture with his fist.

It's pretty intense, and Brantley says it was quite real in execution.

"The mirror was their idea, and punching the picture was mine," explains Brantley. "Yeah, it was like a temper tantrum moment. Man, we thought that picture was plexiglass! It wasn’t. I was in the emergency room for a couple hours after that video shoot. I had to get stitches in my right hand."

So the blood on his knuckles in the next couple shots, that's not makeup department magic?

"That was right after I punched it," he says. "Literally, probably five seconds after that camera shot [where] you see the blood, it was running off, like a river running off of my hand."

Now that's a committed performance. Check out the video below.
