Brad and Kimberly Launch “The Paisley Challenge”

Following a volunteer trip to impoverished areas of Haiti, Nashville costar Kimberly Williams-Paisley knew she needed to act. The sight of families, and especially young children, living without the most basic need—clean water—was simply too much to bear.

Inspired, she and husband Brad Paisley donated an undisclosed sum to Live Beyond...Thirst, a nonprofit working to bring clean water to the people of Haiti. Led by Nashville residents Dr. David and Laurie Vanderpool, the initiative struck a chord with Brad and Kimberly.

"Going to Haiti really opened my eyes to the plight of these hundreds of thousands of people—many of them mothers, fathers and children—who are our neighbors," Kimberly said. "With Live Beyond...Thirst, we can help give them a basic human necessity they have never had: clean water. I want to show them they are not forgotten."

Having done their part and pledging to do more, Brad and Kimberly have launched "The Paisley Challenge," inviting others to donate money in helping reach the goal of establishing 100 clean-water collection sites to support the community of Thomazeau, suburb or Port-au-Prince.

"Clean water leads to healthy people," Brad said, "which leads to less time trying to survive and more time trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives."
