Blake Shelton Says New “Voice” Coaches Really Want to Win

Blake Shelton and his fellow coaches on NBC's The Voice have always joked around and had fun.

But Blake tells reporters that new coaches Usher and Shakira really, really want to win. Really.

"I have always just kind of lollygagged through this thing and just kind of not taken it too seriously, you know. Just had fun with it," Blake said.

"We got in those blind auditions, and Shakira and Usher—it wasn't playtime. They were very serious. They were determined to win this thing. Adam and I were like, 'Hey! Alright, I see how it is now.'

"They came in with one mission, and that's to win the thing. And I wouldn't be surprised if one of 'em does, because they're putting a lot of time and effort into it," Blake says.

But that doesn't mean Blake—a two-time champion—is taking this any more seriously, and it doesn't mean Usher and Shakira will be exempt from Blake-isms.

"They're smart, those two. I've got to hand it to 'em," Blake said. "I mean, they're losers, but they're smart."

The new season starts Monday night (March 25).
