Blake Hosts CMT Video Special

Blake Shelton has been tapped to host the 2008 CMT Music Awards Video of the Year Special, set to premiere on CMT Saturday, April 5, at 11 p.m. ET.

The special gives viewers a closer look at the eight videos nominated for Video of the Year at the 2008 CMT Music Awards, which honors the year’s top videos. Little Big Town, CMT’s Gone Country star Julio Iglesias, Jr., and Reba McEntire, via telephone, make special guest appearances on the show. ‘When CMT asked me to host the 2008 CMT Music Awards Video of the Year Special, I gladly accepted,” says Blake, “but what I didn’t know was they wanted my input on how to run the whole dang awards show.” He jokingly adds, “Watch the special and you’ll see some behind-the-scenes action that you would never expect to be happening. You won’t believe the conditions and restraints I had to work under.” The 2008 CMT Music Awards show will air on CMT April 14, live from the Curb Event Center in Nashville, at 8 p.m. ET
