Billy Ray Says GQ Interview a “Big Mistake”

“It was the darkest time of my life.”

Billy Ray Cyrus tells Piers Morgan that his controversial GQ interview back in March—in which he says Hannah Montana show “destroyed" his family—was a “big mistake.”

“I made a big mistake even giving that interview,” Billy Ray said this week. “It was the darkest time of my life. Dark. It was dark. Turbulent, and that would have been a real good time for me to probably go and sit by the fire alone.”

Not only did Billy Ray badmouth Hannah Montana, he said a few times that he felt his TV/movie star daughter, Miley, was in “a great deal of danger” and that he was “scared for her.”

Billy Ray said this week that, at the time, he was "definitely dealing with a lot.”
