A man was shot at Papa Joe’s Texas Saloon in suburb of Waco, Texas, but a local police chief would not discuss details of the incident or why Shaver might be involved. According to Billy Joe’s attorney, Joseph Turner, “He is not under arrest, and they haven’t issued any warrants for his arrest.” Billy Joe, considered one of country’s finest writers, recently collaborated with Big & Rich on a new version of his song “Live Forever.” His best-known songs include “I Been to Georgia on a Fast Train” and “You Asked Me To.” He was recently inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame and his Greatest Hits album will be released April 3.
