Billy Gilman Unites 19 Country Acts to Sing for Shoes

Billy and co-writers were writing for Billy's new album when they saw a Soles4Souls video on YouTube.

It's kind of like a country "We Are the World."

Hey, even Kenny Rogers, who actually sang on "We Are the World," is part of a new song, "The Choice," that unites 19 country and Christian acts.

Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson, Rodney Atkins and Vince Gill are also part of the project, which benefits Soles4Souls, an organization that brings shoes to poor kids all around the world.

The project was put together by Billy Gilman, whose breakout song, ironically, was called "One Voice."

Billy tells the Associated Press that he reached out to artists through Twitter and other social media, any way he could, to get them to participate.

Billy is putting together a new album, and he and some songwriter buddies were gathered together when they saw a YouTube video about Soles4Souls. And that's how Billy, Dan Murph and Philip Douglas came to write "The Choice."

The song and its music video are set to debut April 16.

The full list of artists: Billy Gilman, Rodney Atkins, Montgomery Gentry, Amy Grant, Steve Holy, Alan Jackson, Wynonna Judd, Richie McDonald, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Ronnie Milsap, Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes, Diamond Rio, Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, Josh Turner and Keith Urban.
