Billy Currington—Movie Bound?

Currington, Billy 2010

Billy Currington's latest No. 1 single, "Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer," is his his fifth trip to the top of the Billboard country singles chart. Despite being "pretty good" at making a name for himself on the country music scene, the curly-haired heartthrob says he has goals outside of music.

"I’ve been asked recently, ‘Do you finally feel like you’ve made it?’  And I’m like, ‘No, I’m so far away from my goals.’ I’ve been fortunate to accomplish some of them," he tells Nashville radio station WKDF. "I want to be in a couple of movies, I always wanted to be exactly like Kenny Rogers and a lot of that hasn’t changed. I remember those movies like Six Pack, The Gambler and Coward of the County. I want to do those things, too not just because he did, but it’s a passion I have, so eventually I want to get into that. It’ll work out the way it’s supposed to. I’m not forcing it."

When it comes to the type of movie roles he would like to take on, it looks like Hollywood's leading man Matthew McConaughey's romantic comedies have been an inspiration for Billy. "I enjoy those movies," Billy says. "I see a lot in him that I see in myself. He’s just a beach guy, laid-back."
