Bill Engvall to Host CMT Awards

Actor/comedian Bill Engvall has been tabbed to host the 2009 CMT Music Awards, airing Tuesday night, June 16, at 8 p.m. ET on CMT.

The awards, voted on by fans, honor the year's top music videos. “CMT has promised a ‘live and loud’ awards show," says Bill, "and I’m honored to have been chosen as host. Live television is always unpredictable and exhilarating, and I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with some of country music’s biggest stars.” The 2009 CMT Music Awards will air live from the Sommet Center in Nashville and  will include performances by Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and British rockers Def Leppard. Bill is currently the host of CMT's Country Fried Home Videos and stars in the TBS sitcom, The Bill Engvall Show.
