Boy was this was an emotional week at the ranch!
We started off this week one man short. It was really hard not having Patrick around. He was such a great friend on the ranch and we were all missing him. However, I was so impressed by Ramon. He really stepped up as a leader for our team. We could tell he missed Patrick too, but he was really making it his purpose to carry our team.
For our first workout we met Season 10 contestant Adam Hurtado. It was such a nice feeling meeting someone who knew what it was like to be in our shoes. He and I had a lot of the same issues when we started at the ranch, but he looks great now and is such a strong person.
During our workout with him, we went for a walk up a large hill. Part of our challenge was to carry a bag of weight with us up the hill and pass it down to our team members when we were too tired. Ramon started carrying the weight for our team and he never passed it off to any of us.
I'll be honest, Ramon and I are a lot alike. He may be a little cuter than I am, but at least I know if he was ever caught out in the wild, he wouldn't be able to hunt a deer like I would.
The emotional part of the week came with our big challenge. Alison Sweeney told us we would be competing to get letters from home. I wanted those letters so badly. But the truth is, as much as our whole team wanted the letters, we really wanted the Black Team to get their letters. We all have people we missed, but the contestants on the Black Team all have kids. I have a future stepson that I really wanted to hear from, but I knew they all had more kids to hear from. Now, we by no means let the Black Team win, we just wanted them to get their letters.
The obstacle course we went through was one of the coolest things I have ever been through. One minute we were walking though intense wind and then next we were facing actual snow. We were really going through the elements like in real life. There is always an excuse not to work out, but we faced them all without any excuse. We barely lost this challenge to the Black Team. It was a hard race, but their slowest player Jennifer wasn't cleared to compete, so I still say we could have beat them.
When we were all finished, Alison Sweeney told us we were all going to get to read our letters. I can't even tell you how happy I was getting letters from my family, friends, and the girl I am going to marry one day. It reminded me why I was there and helped reaffirm my journey.
At the end of this week, the Blue Team had to vote off another player. They voted off Coach Mike. It was so hard to see him go because he was such an inspiration to all of us, but I am good friends with Becky, too, so I would have been sad to see her go as well.
Be sure to tune in next week to The Biggest Loser. One of the contestants gets to take their trainer home with them, so you will have to tune in to see if Dolvett gets to come home with me to Nashville.
