Bellamy Brothers Say Britney Ripped ’Em Off

This may be the first time ever that the names Britney Spears and Bellamy Brothers have appeared in the same story.

The Bellamy Brothers say Britney’s brand-new “Hold It Against Me” song is just too similar to the duo’s signature smash “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me.”

“If you listen to the lyrics of Britney Spears’ new single, ‘Hold It Against Me,’ you’ll find some major similarities,” David Bellamy, who wrote the original, charged in a press release sent worldwide.

“Howard and I have no personal beef with Britney. She’s a talented gal. But professionally, well, in all honesty, we feel completely ripped off. Where’s the originality?” says David.

Quipped Howard Bellamy: “Hey Brit . . . if I said you ripped off our song, would you hold it against me? Thanks.”

What's missing in the current debate is the fact that David has admitted over the years that he, er, "borrowed" the phrase from Groucho Marx, who regularly used it on his 1950s television show You Bet Your Life.

No response yet from the Spears camp.
