Barbara Mandrell's Dad Passes Away

Irby Mandrell, the father and longtime manager of Barbara Mandrell, died Thursday, March 5, in a Nashville hospital at age 84.

Irby played a key role in Barbara's life and career as her manager for more than 30 years. Barbara relied on her father for career advice. "Our family and some friends were standing around my daddy's bed at Baptist Hospital when he passed peacefully on to his heavenly home. I'm speaking for all of my family, especially my sisters Louise and Irlene, when I say we love him and will miss him dearly," said Barbara, who was recently named as a new member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Services will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Goodlettsville, Tenn., Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m.
