The Band Perry Only Country Act on American Music Awards

Taylor is up against her buddy Katy Perry—and Gaga, Lil Wayne and Adele—for artist of the year.

The Band Perry will be the only country act to perform this Sunday (Nov. 20) on the American Music Awards, an all-genre show that often gets TV ratings similar to or better than the Grammys.

But country will be represented at the AMAs.

First of all, Taylor Swift is nominated in the grand-daddy category of ’em all, Artist of the Year. In that category, she’ll face her pop BFF Katy Perry, as well as Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Adele.

Second, there are four country categories, male and female vocalists, best album and band/duo/group.

Plus, Taylor and The Band Perry—who won trophies at last week’s Country Music Association Awards—have three AMA nominations each, so they’ll get a fair amount of face time.

The three-hour show airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
