Ashton Shepherd gave members of the Music Row media an entertaining sneak peek at her upcoming new album, Where Country Grows, at a special lunch and performance at the BMI offices in Nashville, Tuesday (June 7).

And to play off her fast-rising single, “Look It Up,” if you want the definition of “true country singer,” you could look that up and find Ashton's picture. The Alabama native, sporting an accent that drips with Southern flavor, thoroughly entertained the guests with some material from Where Country Grows, including the title track, “Look It Up,” “I’m Just a Woman” and “I’m Good.” She regaled all with the stories behind those tunes, recounting them with affectionate, down-home humor.

“I really do enjoy playing acoustic and getting to talk about the songs,” she said. Where Country Grows is set for a July 12 release.
