Andy Griggs Releases New Music to iTunes
Andy is back with new music for his fans, who have continued to stick by his side all these years.
Over the past several years, Andy Griggs has continued to keep his career going strong by writing songs, recording music and, of course, touring.
After the independent release of his 13-track acoustic album, titled Naked, earlier this year, Andy is back with new music for his fans, who have continued to stick by his side all these years.
Triple Play Plus contains four new songs from the “You Won’t Ever Be Lonely” singer: “I Don't Let Go,” ”Lead You Back to Me,” a cover of Cinderella’s “Gypsy Road” and the fun-lovin’ “I Love My Dog, My Dog Loves Me.”
The new tunes are just a taste of what's to come from Andy, as he puts the finishing touches on his new, yet-to-be-titled full-length project, which he will release independently.
“It’s a really, really exciting time for me right now, musically and in all areas,” Andy tells Country Weekly. “I’m able to be me. With these four songs, we sat down in the studio, and I used my band and produced it myself. ‘I Don’t Let Go’ is a song that’s been holding on to me for a long time. I haven’t let go of ‘I Don’t Let Go’ in years. I was going to record it back when I was signed with RCA Records, and it fell through the cracks, but I’ve always loved that song.
“‘Lead You Back to Me’ is a song I wrote with Ricky Nelson’s sons, Matt and Gunnar Nelson,” Andy continues. “That was a total different beast, and right now it’s the most proud thing that I’ve done on this project.”
Andy and Cinderella frontman Tom Keifer have known each other for years and even collaborated on Andy’s 2002 album, Freedom, on a song they wrote together called “A Hundred Miles of Bad Road.” So it was a natural choice for the country singer to pick one of the band’s biggest songs to include on this latest project. “I’ve done ‘Gypsy Road’ live here and there since I’ve known Tom,” notes Andy.
Rounding out the four tracks is “I Love My Dog, My Dog Loves Me,” which Andy says “comes from two or three different places” of his life. “It’s a totally different song than the other three tracks,” notes Andy. “It’s a lot of fun. It’s almost like a different singer than the ‘Lead You Back to Me’ singer.”
While no single has been picked just yet, Andy does say he has a good idea of which of the four tracks it will be.
“I’m kind of letting the people decide right now,” he says with a smile. “It will probably be ‘Lead You Back to Me’ right now. That one is leading the race, so we’re probably going to go that direction if I had to guess. But it’s hard to beat ‘Gypsy Road.’ I mean . . . you’re going to smile when you hear it!”
Fans can purchase all four tracks now via iTunes.
