ALABAMA TO RECEIVE AMA AWARD OF MERIT

At this year's AMA awards, Alabama will be honored as the 30th winner of the American Music Awards special Award of Merit.

Reba McEntire -- a 14-time AMA winner -- will be on hand to present the group the award, which honors "outstanding contributions to the musical entertainment of the American public."

Previous winners of the AMA Award of Merit include: Johnny Cash, Benny Goodman, Chuck Berry, Stevie Wonder, Kenny Rogers, Michael Jackson, Loretta Lynn, Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys, Willie Nelson, Neil Diamond, Merle Haggard, James Brown, Whitney Houston, Tammy Wynette, Little Richard, Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Janet Jackson and Garth Brooks.
