When the American Country Awards air tonight (Dec. 10, 8 p.m. ET) on FOX, it’ll mark the second go-round for hosts Kristin Chenoweth and Trace Adkins, who brought the funny last year when they teamed up for the irreverent fan-voted awards show. But while Kristin may be best known for her roles on Broadway and on television series like Glee, the diminutive but strong-voiced singer says there is a wealth of country music on her iPod.

“I love The Band Perry. I’m still listening to their hit from last year. It’s on repeat,” Kristin told Country Weekly during a recent conference call with reporters. “And I am really happy for Little Big Town. . . . Let me just say this, it’s very hard to walk in this world and get to know people. Little Big Town, when I met them, made me feel so welcome and loved and accepted. For them to be as talented as they are nice, I’m going to root for them.”

Kristin said she’s also hoping for some new music from Chely Wright. “There are just some singers I’m never going to not listen to, Chely Wright being one of them,” she shared. “She hasn’t released an album in two years, but I keep telling her she’s got to do it.”

Kristin herself is looking ahead to her second country album. She released Some Lessons Learned in 2011.

“I just didn’t feel like I got done with that first album. I thought it was a really good start,” she said. “There’s going to be a part two there for sure.”

The ACAs air live from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan and Little Big Town are among those scheduled to perform.
