43rd ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARD NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

Nominations for the 43rd annual Grammy Awards were announced at a press conference in Nashville January, 3rd. Faith Hill and Vince Gill each received three nominations, while both Breathe, and I Hope You Dance, were nominated both for Country Song of Year and in the overall Song of the Year category. The announcement¹s most glaring omission was in the Country Duo or Group Performance category, where the Dixie Chicks are conspicuously absent.

In general categories, Nashville earned several Grammy nominations. For Song of the Year, nominees included: Breathe, Stephanie Bentley & Holly Lamar, songwriters; I Hope You Dance, Mark D. Sanders & Tia Sillers, songwriters. New Artist nods went to Shelby Lynne and Brad Paisley.

Willie Nelson's Milk Cow Blues was nominated for Traditional Blues Album, and his Teatro earned a nod for Long Form Music Video.

Jeff Foxworthy's Big Funny got a nod for Spoken Comedy Album.

A Short Form Music Video nod went to local directors Robert Deaton and George Flanigen for Reba McEntire¹s What Do You Say.
