The Country Music Marathon and 1/2 Marathon, April 25, in Nashville, will feature a famous contestant, Dane Patterson from the NBC-TV series, The Biggest Loser.

Dane is a former high school lineman who competed on the series and has lost more than 100 pounds. “I’ll definitely stand out, because right now, I’m about 260 pounds,” Dane tells Country Weekly. “That’s probably about 100 pounds more than the average marathon runner. I’ll feel like a Clydesdale at the Kentucky Derby.” An avid country fan, Dane is looking forward to his first trip to Music City. “I grew up in Texas and have listened to country most of my life,” he says. “That’s one reason I’m excited about this. I’m a huge George Strait fan but I also like Brad Paisley and a lot of others. I’m hoping to hear some live music when I’m in town.” Dane adds that his main goal is to simply finish the race. “I would like to do it in under five hours, though,” he says. Also participating in the races are members of Team McGraw, made up of Tim McGraw’s band members and Tim’s fans, and Diamond Rio, which organizes its own Team Rio squad. Following the race, Billy Currington will perform a concert at the Sommet Center in Nashville at 8 p.m. For more information on the Country Music Marathon and 1/2 Marathon, visit cmmarathon.com.
