Year of the Woman: Music Videos

Without question, 2013 belonged to country boys. Artists like Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Jason Aldean rode all over country radio with undeniably catchy songs about trucks, shine and parties, both backwoods and beachside.

But while the guys were getting their wheels muddy, country’s women were quietly massing at the border, carrying on the genre’s tradition of introspective songwriting and singing with all the lived-in experience of Patsy and Tammy. And with exciting albums either recently released or on the horizon from both veterans and rising stars—Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles and Cassadee Pope among them—the gals are proving that the distaff side of country is alive and kicking, prompting us here at CW to already proclaim 2014 the Year of the Woman.

Here are the 15 game-changers we’ll be keeping our eyes on, along with seven other women we’re happy to be seeing more of. Hear them roar.
