Stars React To ACM Nominations
published March 2, 2010
“My management called and told me to turn on the TV to The Early Show, and I couldn’t believe they read my name. I feel so blessed to have been embraced and considered a contender in this format. I’m in the same category as George Strait, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and Kenny Chesney. Wow.”—Darius Rucker
“This is pretty cool to be acknowledged by the ACMs like this. ’Boots On’ was a big song for me and the video was a big part of it. That video could have stood on its own as a YouTube phenomenon and it would have been awesome; I just got lucky enough that Drake was singing my song. To receive this much national recognition for it is more than I ever dreamed of.”—Randy Houser
“You dream and pray your whole entire childhood to one day do what you enjoy and love doing the most . . . I feel blessed beyond measure, and am so appreciative of everyone in the country music community for thinking of us. I’m overwhelmed to say the least.”—Hillary Scott, Lady Antebellum
“You always hear about the power of a great song, and there’s no doubt that ‘Need You Now’ has definitely been a career-changer for us . . . but seven nominations?! We are blown away.“——Dave Haywood, Lady Antebellum
“We were actually flying out of Las Vegas when we heard the news about our nominations. I can’t wait to get back here . . .its always one of the most fun events of the year, and we have really special memories of winning the ‘New Artist’ award here a few years ago. I never thought we’d have a bigger night than that . . . all of this is just unreal!”—Charles Kelley, Lady Antebellum
“Thanks for all your kind words and support about the nominations . . . Awards are great but we make our music for YOU, the fans. Not our peers.”—Jay DeMarcus, Rascal Flatts, via Twitter
“Getting ready in my room, singing my thoughts. Super annoying new habit of mine. Today it’s ‘I love ACM nominations. I love ACM nominations’.”—Taylor Swift, via Twitter
“This is the best day of my life! I got to read the nominations with the ‘queen of country music,’ Reba. And, then I find out ’Hillbilly Bone’ is nominated! I’m glad that my first nomination in years is with one of my great friends, Trace Adkins. The only thing that could make this day better is if Betty White was there to give me the award should I win!”—Blake Shelton

Oh Jay DeMarcus, just when we believe that you can not go any lower with your twitter posts......you go and outdo yourself. Rascal Flatts would have gotten more nominations if the group had EARNED them. Your peers do not owe you or your group anything. Shame on you for being so ungrateful.

Mar 03, 2010 at 8:37 am ESTsing at all. She is so overrated and the only

I'm with you Diana. I'm so sick of Taylor Swift. Her and Carrie Underwood are all my local radio station ever plays. It's like ever 30 min. there's another song by one of them and I for one and so sick of it. So, I've quit listening to the radio for the most part and keep TONS of my favorite CDs handy.

Yep I agree, Taylor Swift better be finding a way to invest the millions of $ she is now making because she will not be around for too much longer. She will never be a Martina or Faith.
