Jimmy Wayne From The Road pt. 1
published January 5, 2010
As we reported earlier, Jimmy Wayne began his long trek for charity on New Year's Day. So far, his journey has gotten off to a cold start. Temps in Tennessee dropped into the teens over the past couple of evenings, but Jimmy tried his best to brave the weather.
On his third night, Jimmy said via Twitter, "Its snowN & 13 degrees. My toes R frozen. Gota find a gas station soon!" On January 4th he tweeted, "I awoke this am with ice ontop of my sleeping bag; inside & outside the tent; it was miserably cold! I'm so thankful that I have fans like U." He added, "I knew it was going to be cold, but I didn't think it'd be THIS cold for THIS long. Thank goodness I have a tent and sleeping bag that are designed for sub zero temperatures. It's been tough going the past four days."
Jimmy's management team then made an executive decision due to the chilling weather, asking Jimmy to stay at a hotel in McEwen, TN for a night. "I felt like a failure for not sleeping outside," Jimmy said, but he realized that "it's okay to regroup." He added, "This cheap motel feels like a 5-star Presidential suite!"
The journey so far has been challenging, it has not always been lonely. Members of Jimmy's record label, management and publicity teams, as well as fans have met him at various points along the way to offer food and fellowship. Fellow country star Dierks Bentley has also offered his support, making donations to the Homebase Youth Services in honor of the Meet Me Halfway campaign (Homebase Youth Services is based in Dierks Bentley's hometown of Phoenix, AZ).
An official link to the Meet Me Halfway campaign should be available on Wednesday, January 6th at www.jimmywayne.com.

I read in the news that 4 people died in Tennessee in the last day due to the cold snap. Thank God that Jimmy stayed in a hotel! He is determined and driven and I ask that not only do you donate to this charity, but that you pray for him on his journey.
