Jerry Reed Dies at 71

Jerry Reed, a gifted guitarist who found fame as a recording star and film actor, died Sept. 1 from complications of emphysema at the age of 71.

Jerry was best known for singles like “Amos Moses” and his 1971 No.1 “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot,” both featuring his expert guitar picking. His songs were also recorded by artists including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Porter Wagoner and Brenda Lee. Jerry acted in several movies, including Smokey & the Bandit and Gator.
