Jennifer Hanson’s Baked Macaroni and Cheese
A hearty side dish from Jennifer, whose album Joyride will be released in 2008, that's a family favorite.

Ingredients
- 1 box elbow macaroni
- 1 block sharp cheddar, preferably Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp
- 1 stick salted real butter
- Salt
- Pepper
- 2% milk
Preparation
- Boil macaroni to tender but not mushy—al dente.
- Shred cheese
- Cover bottom of glass baking dish with pats of butter.
- Layer macaroni, cheese, butter and salt and pepper to taste.
- Repeat layering until near top of pan. Cover with cheese. Add milk, covering up to ¾ of the mixture.
- Bake for 30 minutes at 350°.
For an even richer, creamier texture and taste, use buttermilk instead of 2% milk.
