Spring Time Lollipop Basket

Newcomer Emma Mae Jacob crafts a lollipop basket perfect for gift-giving.

April 21, 2008

Ingredients

  • Four 14-oz. bags Wilton Candy Melts
  • Mixing bowls
  • 2 or 3 sets of lollipop molds that match the theme you desire
  • 20 lollipop sticks
  • 20 lollipop bags
  • Thin ribbon
  • 1 basket
  • 2 Styrofoam pieces cut to fit the bottom of the basket
  • Toile or some type of fabric to cover Styrofoam (match color with ribbon)
  • Glue and scissors
  • Large colorful ribbon (for the top of the basket)
  • Green floral wire

Preparation

  1. Place like-colored Candy Melts in a bowl. Microwave for about 1 minute.
  2. Take out and stir gently until candy begins to soften. Repeat in cycles of 1 minute until completely smooth. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each color
  3. Lay out molds; with a spoon, fill molds with softened candy.
  4. Place one stick in each lollipop mold.
  5. Place molds in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.
  6. Remove molds from the refrigerator.
  7. Place a bag over each lollipop, then tie a precut piece of thin ribbon around the bottom of the bag.
  8. When the lollipops are done and packaged, place them in the basket one at a time—sticking them in the Styrofoam—until they look like a bouquet.
  9. Take your large ribbon and make a bow, and twist a piece of green floral wire around the bow. Then secure the bow to the top of the basket.

Makes about 60 lollipops
