Rockin' in the Country

Rockin' in the Country by Daryle Singletary

Daryle Singletary had but three Top 10 hits in the 1990s, but his stone-country baritone helped him to cultivate a fiercely loyal following that stuck with him well after radio programmers had lost interest. Fans’ patience has been tested by his output over the last decade, which consisted mostly of infrequent covers albums. Rockin’ in the Country, then, should come as a sweet relief for the faithful—Daryle’s first album of (mostly) new material since 2000 finds him in fine form, addressing his undiminished voice to a strong set of likeable songs in settings that nicely split the difference between traditional and contemporary.
