Eric Paslay: Seeking Fishing, Songwriting and Touring Partner

According to the Law of Attraction, like attracts like. So it’s puzzling why rabid fishermen and award-winning songwriters Eric Paslay and Brad Paisley haven’t written together, fished together or even met.

And both of the stars have songs about fishing in their catalog—Eric’s “If the Fish Don’t Bite” and Brad’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song).”

So, what’s the hold-up? Why isn’t this dynamic pair songwriting, fishing and touring together? The opportunity just hasn’t presented itself yet, according to Eric, but he’s hopeful for all of the above.

“I hear he tows a fishing boat behind the tour bus,” he says, smiling.

He also jokingly speculates that the reason they haven’t worked together is because their last names are too confusing. “I get called Eric Paisley all the time,” he says. “It doesn’t bother me, but I bet he doesn’t get called Brad Paslay.”

In fact, Eric thinks the confusion provides an opportunity . . . should Brad and maybe Carrie Underwood ever want him to tour with them. He smiles and jokes, “We could call it the ‘I Don’t Even Know My Last Name Tour.’”
