Kenny Takes Top ACM Prize
Kenny Chesney won the night’s biggest honor, Entertainer of the Year, at the 42nd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, May 15, in Las Vegas.
Kenny won for the third consecutive time, joining Alabama, Garth Brooks and Hank Williams, Jr. as artists who have achieved that feat. Also winning big was Carrie Underwood, taking home the awards for Top Female Vocalist, Album of the Year for Some Hearts and Video of the Year for her emotional “Before He Cheats.” Brad Paisley copped his first Top Male Vocalist award and remarked afterward, “When I did win, I first thought of George Strait.” George’s song “Give It Away” won for both Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year. The show was marked by outstanding live performances from Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Vince Gill and more.
